MATILDE – Way Back Home
Matilde Jerez, MATILDE, is an independent Chilean singer-songwriter who has just released Way Back Home, her debut single, a captivating track that has truly moved us.
“Way Back Home is a song that came to me in a dream. I told myself: as soon as you wake up, record what we wrote in your sleep. And that’s what I did,” MATILDE shared with Jungle Indie Rock. “It’s a song that invites you to pause, to reconnect with the earth, with simplicity and the essential, somewhere between melancholy and light.”
Given how music circulates on digital platforms today, it’s rare to come across artists no one has talked about yet, undiscovered musicians who emerge in the music with a solid work, a distinctive vocal style, and an innate talent for songwriting. However, this is the first time MATILDE has received words from the specialized press, because, as she told us, it’s just her and her vocal coach, who encourages and supports her with the hope that her song will reach more people.

She won’t need anyone to “discover” her, because she’s already presenting herself through her work.
