Jonny 5 & Yak – Onomatopoeia (2001)
American rap group Flobots has been well known ever since their hit song Handlebars on their 2008 album Fight With Tools. However, the first work of frontman Jonny 5 was his 2001 album Onomatopoeia.
Made with a friend named Farhad, stage name Yak, the two would release Onomatapeia under the name Jonny 5 & Yak. Stylistically inspired from spoken word and old school hip hop, the album began to explore themes that were iterated upon in Jonny 5’s later music in Flobots.
