deaf march – deaf march

I never lose that feeling of happiness when I listen to a new artist I like for the first time. It is the same sensation of making a new friendship that will last for years and years. All of a sudden, in a few seconds, you have a name that will form part of your life, like deaf march.
Deaf march is the music project by Niko (she/they pronouns), a 25-year-old singer-songwriter from Chania, Greece, based in Riga, Latvia, since the summer of 2025.
“I’ve been playing music for as long as I can remember, growing up on Greek traditional music, entehno, rock, punk, and hip hop. I studied Musicology in Thessaloniki, which is when I started writing my own songs,” Niko told Jungle Indie Rock.
“For years, I experimented with different genres, but didn’t feel like any of it truly represented me. In March 2025, I finally found my sound,” she said.
Niko described her work as intimate, melancholic indie folk with acoustic guitar riffs, personal lyrics, and subtle electronic and post elements. “My main influence has always been Mac DeMarco, but I’m also inspired by Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, and contemporary artists like Emma Harner, Hudson Freeman, and Jesse Welles,” she commented.
Deaf march’s debut album What Won’t Bend… will be released in December 2025. In the meantime, you can enjoy the self-titled first song of this talented artist.
