Mercury Rev – Holes (1999)
Holes fue la canción principal del cuarto álbum de estudio de Mercury Rev, Deserter’s Songs, que se lanzó el 29 de septiembre de 1998 y fue uno de mis álbumes favoritos del año. Holes solo se publicó en forma de single en julio de 1999 en Australia y era una de las cuatro pistas en un EP de gira de edición limitada. El resto son una versión en vivo de Caroline Says Pt. II (Lou Reed), una versión en vivo de Car Wash Hair y Robert Creeley leyendo su poema I Dreamed sobre la música de Mercury Rev.
Mercury Rev es una banda estadounidense de indie rock formada en 1989 en Buffalo, Nueva York. Los miembros originales eran David Baker (voz), Jonathan Donahue (voz, guitarra), Sean Mackowiak (guitarra, clarinete), Suzanne Thorpe (flauta), Dave Fridmann (bajo) y Jimy Chambers (batería). Actualmente solo quedan tres (Donahue, Mackowiak y Chandler).

Lanzaron su último álbum, el décimo, Bobbie Gentry’s The Delta Sweete Revisited, el 4 de febrero de 2019, que reinterepreta el álbum de Bobbie Gentry de 1968, The Delta Sweete.
