David Bowie – Space Oddity (1969)

Una nueva copia original de la película y de la canción Space Oddity acaba de aparecer en la página de Youtube de David Bowie.

El 2 de febrero de 1969, David Bowie fue a los estudios Morgan de Willesden para grabar una nueva canción, Space Oddity, con su colega John ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson para ‘Love You Till Tuesday ‘, una película que estaba haciendo el entonces manager de Bowie, Kenneth Pitt. Posteriormente, Bowie hizo algunas demos de versiones adicionales de la canción en un intento de asegurar un contrato discográfico, lo que finalmente le llevó a la firma con Mercury / Philips con la versión mundialmente famosa grabada el 20 de junio de 1969. La grabación de febrero finalmente se convirtió en parte de Decca cuando Pitt vendió los derechos de Love You Til Tuesday a PolyGram en 1984.

Space Oddity fue escrito y grabado por David Bowie. Fue lanzado por primera vez como un sencillo de 7 pulgadas el 11 de julio de 1969. También fue la canción de apertura de su segundo álbum de estudio, David Bowie y el primer sencillo de Bowie que llegó a las listas de éxitos en el Reino Unido, alcanzando el número cinco. Una vez relanzado en 1975, pasó a ser el número uno.
