The Spanish band Oh! Marlene published their first EP Consejos En Ultrasonido on April 5, 2024. The work was produced by Álex Román and mastered by Daniel Alcover (Dover, Pignoise, Sex Museum, Corizonas, Niña Polaca).

Oh! Marlene is Ana Guillamó (vocals, rhythm guitar), Enrique Vicedo (lead guitar), Eloy Serrano (bass), and Maxi Leguizamón (drums), an indie pop rock group formed in 2021 that stands out for its powerful voice, sharp lyrics, and the strong sound of their guitars.

“For us, Oh! Marlene was a revelation that arose while searching for a name for the band, when we came across the Love of Lesbian song Marlene, La Vecina Del Ártico,” Oh! Marlene told Jungle Indie Rock.

“We believed that the idea of multiple personalities reflected in a very graphic way what it means to compose from different points of view and express different realities,” they added.

The cover art reflects the concept and title of the EP, “a mix of those personalities trying to say something in each other’s ears. Those Consejos En Ultrasonido (ultrasound bits of advice) are those internal voices that contradict each other all the time, which is part of the band and what concerns us,” they explain.

This unrepeatable EP includes six essential cuts in which Oh! Marlene broke their back in songs like Fiestas de GuardarCall Me By Your Name, their legendary Himno Generacional, or a gem called Olvidar Octubre which closes the album.

In Será La Hostia, “a song with political undertones,” the band names the title of the EP and emphasizes “the leitmotif ” of the work, “which may not be evident to the public but for us, it is the anchor that gives the meaning and the whole concept.”

The lyrics of Consejos En Ultrasonido are full of beautiful places, quotes from Hemingway and James Ivory, small truths sprinkled with love and anger, tenderness, disappointment…

“…I have not forgotten the promises I made to you in front of the sea”, or “I will trace the path home so that you will never get lost”, coexist with the disagreement of “and you don’t want to admit that you are kissing other medals”, “your Saint vocation on Sundays”, and other bitter flavors that tear apart a great voice.

Oh! Marlene is part of Jungle Indie Rock’s project Jungle Bands 2024.
