Video Premier: Lapsus Planck – Wonderful War

They will sound familiar to you because of their energetic rock or by their final performance at Mad Cool Talent. But from now on,  you will remember Lapsus Planck for the video of Wonderful War, where they break the line between reality and hallucination in one of the singles that will be part of their first album.

Wonderful War is inspired by the “unfortunately increasingly less absurd and more plausible” idea of how a war can affect you under the influence of narcotics. In a twist, Lapsus Planck places the protagonist of their video clip in a Madrid neighborhood drinking Chicoria, “which is another of our songs,” the band explained to Jungle Indie Rock.

“After hitting a stone on his terrace and with the suggestion of the news that addresses us daily, the protagonist fights for his survival against an imaginary enemy, defending himself by shooting with a hair dryer and a brush,” they commented.

Txema, Pesto, Cuenca, and Juan form this rock quartet that adds one-third of punk, another of psychedelia, and the essence of chicory in the shaker. The band from Madrid is releasing with Jungle Indie Rock this video that they made themselves for one of their four singles, all produced by our collaborator Bernardo (Berni) Calvo  (Carolina Durante, Juventud Juché).

And it seems that Julio Ruiz liked it. “The Madrid band that already attracted attention with their Spanish Shame just a year ago is back in action with this song. Again, it is strong from the beginning of the cut until the pace accelerates midway through the piece. As they are self-sufficient, they have made a clip (it could pass for a short film) that rhymes with the frenzy of this ‘war,’” the man behind Todos los Discos son Grandes on Subterfuge Radio told our media.

“It’s been a while since I’ve been able to watch a whole video. This one really got me hooked,” confesses TibiFest music promoter David Aznar, director of the music website Mi Rollo.es and co-founder of Jungle Indie Rock.

“The day JG Ballard and Phillip K. Dick ROCKED. Wonderful theme and video. I want to see them live NOW!” said the legendary producer, writer, and musician Gerardo Cartón, former director of PIAS Spain and a very long etcetera.

Will have to wait. Lapsus Planck, together with Jungle Indie Rock, is preparing the release of their next five songs produced by Berni. The group is part of our non-profit project Jungle Bands 2024, which has included up to 45 artists in previous editions, such as Neuman, Estereotypo, San Leon, the Swedish singer-songwriter Christine Owman, and the Australians Deep Sea Arcade.

The video was directed by the group’s singer, Txema Lirón de Robles, and the photography by bassist Carlos Cuenca. The production was carried out by guitarist Pesto. And the original idea came from Plastic Salad Films. Video performed by the Murcian actor Nono Mateos.
