Andy, Juppe has your lighter
Singer-songwriter Juppe released the video for Andy, I Have Your Lighter, his latest single, available on Bandcamp. This indie pop-style song is quite unusual considering Juppe’s discography.
“I did everything in the song with an SM58 microphone to prove to myself I could do without all the expensive gear I think I should buy with the money I don’t have. The song itself was written years ago for a skateboard film about a friend who was learning the ollie. They learned the trick but we never finished the film, here’s the soundtrack though!” Juppe said.
The song was released on November 24, 2023, via Soliti, just two months after the studio album Feeling Bad About Feeling Sad In The Happiest Country In The World, a self-production of nine tracks from which Jupper extracted four singles.
Juppe is a very creative Finnish musician and composer, capable of mixing many styles in the same song. His work is experimental, jazzy, funky, and pop at the same time. An outpouring of talent that may not be for all tastes, but that will not leave a mature audience indifferent.
In the video you can see Juppe accompanied by Veli-Pekka Vaari, on violin, and Aapo Soulanto, on saxophone, playing with amazing naturalness. We included the song in our January 2024 playlist.
Lyrics:
Antique porcelain dogs on the window sill
On clear days I can see a ferris wheel
Hand in a bag of chips
Chat groups from 96’
Worried the Fugees are gonna split
And the sirens of the sun refuse to light your way
Cos when in pain
Every other thought appears to go away away
Cos if you follow me
Back too
Back too soon
the wave
will shape us in two
Hey did you know that Andy
I have your lighter
Hey Andy
I have your lighter
Antique porcelain dogs on the window sill
On clear days I can see a ferris wheel
I wanna be your troglodyte
Bathe in the tv light
Sure hope you’re doing all right
And the moon men sigh as we pretend
They never went nowhere
Cos when in pain every other thought appears to go away away
Cos if you follow me
Back too
Back too soon
the wave
will shape us in two
Hey did you know that Andy
I have your lighter
Hey Andy
I have your lighter
