Bobby Womack released this song as the leading track off his 1985 album So Many Rivers. This is the so-called trilogy to The Poet series of records from the singer, recorded for Los Angeles-based Beverly Glen Records.
Robert Dwayne “Bobby” Womack (March 4, 1944 − June 27, 2014) was an American singer-songwriter and musician. His best known songs were recorded in 1964 when he and his brothers were known as The Valentinos. It’s All Over Now, a cover by The Rolling Stones, the 1972 track Across 110th Street, (from the film of the same name), also later on the Jackie Brown soundtrack, are some examples of its impact.
